At a glance

What is a World Darts Championship sweepstake?

A darts sweepstake gives everyone in your group players to follow at the PDC World Darts Championship. Players are either drawn at random or chosen from seeded pots, and each entry scores points every time one of its players wins a match. The entry with the most points when the champion is crowned wins.

Sweepzy runs the whole thing online: one invite link, a fair draw, automatic scoring after every session and a leaderboard everyone can check on their phone.

The 7 Player Picks pots

Players are ranked using the PDC Order of Merit, so every entry mixes favourites and outsiders. Only the top 48 of the 128-player field are used, so picks never depend on late international qualifiers. The list updates when the field changes.

Automatic tournament scoring

Points for every match won.

Each player earns more points the further they go: 1 point for a first-round win, rising to 7 for winning the final. Points add up, so the world champion is worth 28 points to every entry that has them.

In Player Picks, Pot 6 and Pot 7 picks score 1.5x, worth up to 42 points. Random Sweepstakes score every player the same.

A fair draw for any group size

Tell Sweepzy how many people are entering. It splits the ranked players into bands and gives every entry a unique combination.

✓ Every entry gets a different player

Each entry is randomly assigned one player from the top 48. Fewer entries simply use the highest-ranked players.

Excluding players, including up to the top 72 or changing players per entry recalculates the bands. These examples are an explainer; the event builder shows the exact draw before you confirm.

Questions, answered

PDC World Darts Championship sweepstake FAQs

When does the 2026/27 World Darts Championship start?

The PDC World Darts Championship 2026/27 runs from Friday 11 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 at Alexandra Palace in London, with the final on Sunday 3 January. Set your sweepstake's entry deadline before the first session.

When should I run the darts sweepstake draw?

Once everyone has joined and before the first match. The best time is the week before the tournament: by then the Players Championship Finals in late November have settled the Order of Merit, and most qualifiers are known. Close entries, run the draw and share the results so everyone knows their players before the opening session.

Why does the draw use the top 48 to 72 players and not all 128?

The World Championship has 128 players: the top 40 on the PDC Order of Merit, the next 40 from the Pro Tour rankings and 48 international qualifiers. Many qualifiers are only confirmed shortly before the event, and most are outsiders with little chance of going deep. Drawing from the top 48 (or up to 72) means the draw can run early, every player has a realistic chance of going deep and nobody is stuck with an unknown name.

What is a darts sweepstake?

A darts sweepstake is a competition built around a darts tournament such as the PDC World Darts Championship. Each entry gets players through a random draw or chooses them from seeded pots, and scores points as those players win matches. On Sweepzy the scores and leaderboard update automatically.

How do I run a World Darts Championship sweepstake online?

Create a PDC World Darts Championship event on Sweepzy, choose Random Sweepstakes or Player Picks, then add your name, logo, rules and prizes. Share one invite link or QR code, run the draw once everyone has joined (or let entrants make their picks) and follow the live leaderboard.

How does the random darts sweepstake draw work?

By default the draw uses the top 48 players in the PDC Order of Merit. The organiser can exclude players or include up to the top 72, and choose how many players each entry receives. Players are split into ranked bands so every entry gets a fair mix, and no two entries get the same combination.

What if more than 48 people enter?

Give each entry more players. With the top 48, one player per entry covers 48 entries, two players per entry create 576 unique combinations and three create 4,096. Unique combinations do not mean every entry has the same chance of winning.

How do darts Player Picks work?

The top 48 players are split into 7 seeded pots: Pot 1 and Pot 2 hold four players each and Pots 3 to 7 hold eight. Each entrant chooses one player from every pot, so every entry has 7 players. Picks from Pot 6 and Pot 7 score 1.5x points.

How are points scored?

A player earns points for every match they win: 1 point for winning in Round 1, 2 in Round 2 and so on, up to 7 points for winning the final. Points add up, so the world champion is worth 28 points. An entry's score is the total for all of its players.

Why do Pot 6 and Pot 7 score 1.5x?

Player Picks only. Lower-ranked players are less likely to go deep, so Pot 6 and Pot 7 picks score 1.5x their round points to reward a good outsider. Random Sweepstakes have no multiplier.

Can we award a prize for the most 180s?

Yes. Alongside the overall leaderboard, organisers can offer prizes for 1st to 8th place, a wooden spoon and a Most 180s per Match prize view.

What happens if a player withdraws?

Sweepzy updates every event when the field changes and tells entrants what changed. In Player Picks, a withdrawn player from Pots 1 to 3 is not replaced, while Pots 4 to 7 take the next-highest-ranked player. In a sweepstake that has already been drawn, the highest-ranked player not already in the draw takes their place.

Do participants need to download an app?

No. Entrants join from one link or QR code and use any mobile or desktop browser. They create a free Sweepzy account with their email when they join.

How much does a darts sweepstake cost?

It is free for up to 4 entries. Bigger offices and groups pay once per event for a plan sized for 15, 30, 50 or unlimited entries, and can upgrade later. Fundraisers have no upfront cost; a small platform fee applies to paid entries only.

Can pubs, clubs and darts teams use it as a fundraiser?

Yes. Choose Fundraiser in the quick-start panel, set the entry fee, cause and prizes, then share the event with supporters. Pubs can also run free-to-enter competitions for regulars.
